Conduct Observations
To conduct a walk-through observation, it is best that you prepare in advance by using the observation training feature, that allows you to familiarize yourself with the look-fors and accompanying rubric and exemplary video. However, you can also do this while observing by clicking on the appropriate link on the observation form.
Once you have observed the teacher's behavior, you can consider each look-for on the observation form and
- Indicate the teacher's performance level, by clicking on the appropriate radio button for the proper score level (if observing with scoring)
- Check off the evidences you observed during the walk-through by checking the appropriate items listed under "Evidence".
- Record additional comments regarding the teacher's performance by placing those comments into the Comments text box.
- Scan an artifact, make an audio or video recording, or take pictures, if you have the appropriate hardware. After any of these items have been saved to your computer, you can click the Browse button in the attachment area to browse for and upload your attachment to the observation form.
- Add additional comments in the Feedback text box.
- Send an optional email notification to the learner that a new observation has been posted by clicking in the checkbox under the feedback box. You can also add a message to go into the email notification by entering that message into the appropriate box.
- Click Save Draft, if you are not finished with the observation and want to continue it at a later date. If you are finished, click Finish.
