What are invalid characters?

Only the characters available on your keyboard can be used to compose answers to questions in courses. If you edit your responses using a word processor, it may insert invalid characters automatically. These characters must be removed or replaced with allowed characters. Examples of invalid characters are curly quotes, ellipses, fractions, bullets, and accented characters.
